Five of my favourite Slow Fashion Brands.

Daines Ateliers Instagram posts showcasing Sustainable Clothing with ‘5 slow fashion brands we love’ overlayed

The term ‘slow fashion’ is mentioned a lot by a variety of different independent businesses, including ourselves. But what does it actually mean? What does a business promoting slow fashion claim to be doing?

The GoodTrade wrote an article on Slow Fashion and used the quote: Slow fashion is about consuming and creating fashion consciously and with integrity. It connects social and environmental awareness and responsibility with the pleasure of wearing beautiful, well-made, and lasting clothing (as compared to the immediate gratification of fast Fashion). — Kat Collings, Editor in Chief at Who What Wear

Slow fashion acts as an umbrella for all the good in the fashion industry. With more people becoming conscious about who they shop with and what products they’re buying.

I thought I would share with you 5 of my favourite Slow Fashion Brands.

5. Fruit Salad Bristol

I absolutely love this brand. They follow a similar process to our own: upcycling garments and remnants materials into streetwear items. Another thing that I love are their beanies! Made in the UK they’re beautiful.

Emma (the owner of Fruit Salad) also wrote a great article for The Indie Guide on the importance of Slow Fashion.

the shock of seeing all these wasted garms, being educated on how much is sent to landfill each week, and how unfairly the workers are treated in the fast fashion industry (an ongoing issue, even during lockdown) was just too much for me to bare.

I became instantly more fashion conscious, ashamed of my obsessive consumerism and had my eyes open to a new way of living.’ Emma Gorton-Ellicott Fashion Blogger at No-Debutante Founder of slow fashion brand Fruit Salad.
